A Perfect Anniversary Weekend

This weekend was extra special, we celebrated our first wedding anniversary!! We have been together for 4 years, but you know a wedding anniversary is always extra special!! We love sushi, so it was easy to decide on what we will have! If you happen to be in Hoboken, NJ and you are a sushi fan you have to go to Sushi Lounge, their special rolls are amazing, light on rice, with very fresh fish and combinations that make your mouth water!!

For the occasion I wore a black dress and lace shoes, both from Bloomingdales’s NYC.

I kept the makeup to a minimum, just black eyeliner and pink lipstick:

Since the weather was beautiful we decided to sit outside by these beautiful flowers:

We started with drinks, beer for him, a non alcoholic cocktail for me:

Mine is called the Smiling Concubine, and is a mix of lychee puree, pomegranate juice, sweet and sour, lemon lime soda served on the rocks, very refreshing and good! For our appetizer we ordered the Fried Vegetable Spring rolls, which were very good, crunchy but not greasy!

For the main course we decided to order 5 rolls to share. The Hoboken roll, which is a warm roll, made with salmon and served with three dipping sauces:

Bird of Paradise:

Optimistic, California roll and Spicy Salmon:

The rolls were wonderful, full of flavor, very fresh and each bite literally melted in my mouth! After dinner we walked a few blocks to get some frozen yogurt from Koa Koa:

Cookies’n'Cream with Dulce de Leche, topped with Mochi and fresh Strawberries! A perfect dessert after such a nice dinner!

Question: What did you do this weekend? Any new places that you have tried and are worth sharing?

  1. Happy wedding anniversary, and you look gorgeous! This sushi place seems like a very nice place. Nice beautiful rolls with fresh raw fish. And surprised to see Sumiso (sweet and tangy miso) sauce in bird of paradise. I realized I haven’t shared one recipe that I used that sauce…(I took pictures and wrote a recipe but it’s not a post yet). Hope you two had a wonderful evening!

  2. happy anniversary. since hoboken is in my backyard, i need to try this place.. looks amazing. You look beautiful btw.. Another place to try in JC is Teppan – it’s Japanese Hibachi, they do sushi as well, very classy, upscale ambience.
I went for a walk by the waterfront, it was so nice out. :-)

    • I live in JC on the boardwalk, so I fet to enjoy the beautiful Manhattan view every day, I love the Teppan Bar & Hibachi we go very often, the food is really good and its very entertaining to see them cooking it, we should meet and explore some new places :) If you like sushi try Sushi Lounge in Hoboken, its really great! :)
